On Monday, NBA commissioner David Stern announced that the league would no longer be using the microfiber composite ball that was introduced earlier this season. The league will be switching back to the leather ball on January 1st. The announcement couldn't have made the Houston Rockets happier. Most players say that the leather balls just feel right. Most likely it nostalgia too. Although the ball has performed well statistically, the most important thing is how the players feel. The last time the Rockets will use the new ball will be on New Year's Eve.
